Missional Environments are where people have the opportunity to serve (in their gift mix) and live purposefully for God.

Serving was the primary way Jesus related to people.  Scripture says that Jesus “did not come to be served, but to serve.” (Matthew 20:28)  We are the hands and feet of Jesus here on earth and serve a missional purpose.  The Good News of God’s love is best communicated through simple acts of kindness.  Serving others by using our spiritual gift(s) is part of the mission and purpose God has given us, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.” (I Peter 4:10)

Our missional environments include:

Leadership Roles

Leadership Roles are developed in our ministry teams and LIFE Groups to allow people safe places to experiment and experience leadership at different levels of accountability.  We believe scripture teaches God has given each believer a spiritual gift.  Therefore, we function on the basis of spiritual giftedness for developing our leadership not on “elected-type” offices.  We also believe that the people in the church are the “ministers.”  The pastors are the “equippers.”  This principle defines two specific roles in the church.  Both roles are needed and both roles are important.  A fellowship functions in a healthy way when people understand their role.  Our hope is that we can equip you to become all God wants you to be.

Mission Projects

A strong value for Crossroads is to be a “missional” church.  We believe God has called us to “go out and make disciples.”

If there is an organization or missional opportunity that aligns with the heart of Crossroads and we believe God is calling us into partnership, we will be open to follow God’s call.  The following is a list of some of the areas Crossroads has partnered “missionally with.  You are invited to join us...

  • Brazil – Chapel Ministry - Over a 5 year period we took over 40 people to a specific area in Espirto Santo, Brazil and built 5 mission churches and invested in the communities and leadership in those areas.
  • Haiti – Buckets of Hope - food support after the earthquake
  • Kenya – medical supplies to orphaned children
  • Operation Christmas Child – created gift boxes for children through Samaritan’s Purse
  • Living Water – provided a well for a community in Liberia

  • Beaumont, Texas – Hurricane relief work after Katrina
  • Angel Tree Ministry
  • Friends for Life
  • Mission Waco
  • C4--The Crossroads Christian Community Center – a home purchased by Crossroads in the Kate Ross Project Apartment Complex on the corner of 12th and Ross, Waco, Texas.  This has become the central mission focus of Crossroads.  We are investing time in building relationships with the people in this community.  God has given us them opportunity to restore the home to become a mission center.  We have helped families at Christmas time with gifts and food.  Our families invest time with the families at Kate Ross at Halloween, Thanksgiving and Easter.  We are beginning a summer camp program and are open to how God might show us some future ways to invest in this community to meet practical needs and bring about life-change.
